Our Story

Hospitality the Maldivian way

Long before resorts, the Maldives welcomed travellers the way islanders welcome family — with shade, food from the reef, and time. The Sultanate Hotels carries that tradition forward.

Each of our houses sits on a real, living island — not a private enclave. You wake among a community: the call to prayer at dawn, dhonis leaving the harbour, children racing the beach at dusk. Our promise is simple — genuine Maldivian warmth, honest comfort, and front-row access to the ocean that surrounds everything here.

Three corners of the archipelago

Baa Atoll (B.)

A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, famous for the manta gatherings of Hanifaru Bay. Fulhadhoo sits with its two neighbours — Fehendhoo and Goidhoo — in the atoll's quiet south, around a wide lagoon far from the crowds. History washed ashore here too: the French ship Corbin was wrecked on these reefs in 1602, leaving voyager François Pyrard to write one of the first European accounts of the Maldives.

Lhaviyani Atoll (Lh.)

Traditionally Faadhippolhu — one of the country's great diving atolls, about 120 km north of Malé. Four inhabited islands: Naifaru (the capital), Hinnavaru (our home), Kurendhoo and Olhuvelifushi. Divers come for the channel drifts, the Shipyard wrecks and turtle-rich reefs.

Laamu Atoll (L.)

Traditionally Haddhunmathi — a remote southern atoll of long, narrow islands, several linked by the country's longest road from Gan to Fonadhoo, the atoll capital. Gan, among the largest islands in the Maldives, carries beaches that run for kilometres; the atoll's reef breaks and seagrass lagoons keep surfers and turtles equally happy.
